I am an Assistant Professor of Communication at McDaniel College specializing in message design. Visit my school website at: https://www2.mcdaniel.edu/rtrader/.
Some of the ideas expressed in these blog entries are ambiguous and only half stated. This blog is in part a teaching tool, and is designed based on research findings on the generation effect. The generation effect (Wittrock, 1986 as well as many others) says that leaving out a certain amount of information stimulates the brain. The Gestalt theorists called this "the principle of closure". I provide the skeleton of ideas, and the reader fills in the rest through dialog and contemplation.
